Is Global Warming a Real Threat to the Biosphere?
Many people ask questions about global warming like, is global warming really happening? Is the increase in greenhouse gasses the cause to global warming? Or is global warming a real threat? In my opinion and what scientist have proven, the answer to these questions is yes. Global warming is a real threat to the biosphere. With the carbon dioxide levels and other greenhouse gasses rising, it has caused the Earth's temperature to increase as well. The Earth’s temperature is increasing because greenhouse gases traps some of the suns infuriated radiation to help keep the earth at a livable temperature. But with more greenhouse gases in the atmosphere more of the infrared radiation is being trapped and is warming the earth more. So what does the Earth’s temperature increasing have to do with the Earth’s biosphere? Well with the temperature increasing, it’s not as cold in the north and south poles to keep the glaciers frozen. With glaciers melting at a fast rate, the sea levels are rising. If the earth continues to warm and sea levels keep rising then animals habitats and people’s homes will be threatened when sea level rise.
The Earth’s climate is also changing. Rainfall is occurring more in areas that have had rain fall before but now it is causing flooding, and less rainfall in areas that had little rainfall that will lead to drought. With more rain comes more wetlands, wetlands release lots of methane and other gases. The increase diseases are also connected to global warming. Most diseases come from bugs that lived in warm tropical areas. As the global temperature keeps increasing these bugs that can only survive in warm temperatures will have a larger rang that they can live in bringing disease with them. Not only will this harm people, it could also affect the plants and animals. Trees could die which could lead to habitat loss and then to a species extinction. Global warming is a real big threat to the biosphere.
